| 内容記述 | Japan has a long history of dealing with individuals with the mentally disordered primarily through institutional care. After the enactment of the Mental Health Law in 1988, treatment turned from an emphasis on institutionalization to community care. After the late 1940s, social workers began appearing as a member of the treatment team in the field of psychiatric care. The current research reviews the history of rehabilitation for individuals with mental disorders in practice by social workers through the literature review while identifying practice by PSWs (psychiatric social workers) in the area of mental health and welfare as "social work" practice with generalist perspective. Based on the results of this review, this research sought to examine what direction community living assistance should take in the future. Previous work (1) examined "work program outside of hospital" as an activity of psychiatric rehabilitation, while limiting the range of interest the years 1960s through 1980, when this approach was taken with relative fervor. The author focusing on the period after the 1980s, when changes in direction began to become apparent, collected sources from the period for examination. After the 1980s, work program outside of hospital changed from collective involvement of the institutionalized to the work program being perceived individually as an ordinary citizen. In addition, assistance shifted from highly authoritarian work outside an institution to the notion of support based on the intent of the institutionalized individual. Although the conventional concept of work=rehabilitation was a principal pattern, a flexible stance clearly arose in which work program outside of hospital was used as a method of social participation. | |||||
