内容記述 | The concept of community of practice, defined as a group of like-minded people sharing common concerns, problems, passion or experiences (Wenger, McDermott, and Snyder, 2002), presupposes that knowledge generated and shared in the community is not accumulated information within individuals, but is brought through learning as participation that are situated in the context of practice. In this sense, the learning in a community of practice requires networking of individual members' practices. Therefore, in a community of practice shared understandings of the context of practices as a whole community, along with the individuals' commitment through actions aligned with the context, are indispensable. In this article the meaning of embodiment in the context of community of practice, and roles the body has as well as its functional characteristics in generating and sharing the social context of the community of practice are discussed. As the theoretical framework of discussion studies in phenomenology and ecological psychology are referred to. Through the discussion, it has been suggested that the body of a participating individual functions as a major agent that supports the autonomous process of establishing and maintaining the context of practices in the community. Specifically, the body of individual participants collaboratively generates the social context of the community's practices based on its concurrent autonomous semantic segmentation of itself and the environment, and the body also supports the process of collective cognition of the social context through its function of communicating tacit information. |
