| 内容記述 | Social workers must understand that mass media has influenced consciousness formation of social workers and society. So, the author investigated how the media presents the image of foreigners to the Japanese population, and used content analysis methods on the Asahi Shimbun and the Mainichi Shinbun newspapers. Articles related to three keywords were selected: multicultural coexistence, foreigner, and community. The results totaled 262: Asahi Shinbun at 164 and Mainichi Shinbun at 98. As a result, we were able to understand the following two points from this survey. 1. “The accounts of articles related to multicultural coexistence of foreigners in Japan” have increased from 2003. The discussions on revisions of the Immigration Control Act on foreign workers have increased articles that are concerned with labor force, foundation of life, and local government. 2. When the articles were reviewed, 6 categories were found： foundations of life, labor force, vulnerabilities, social exclusion, policy, social inclusion. It turned out that not only negative representations (ex. vulnerability, social exclusion) but also positive representations (ex. social inclusion) have been increasing |
