The impression of hikikomori maintaining the withdrawal state for more than 6 months approximately matched the actual condition such as “playing a game in the room”, and a biased impression “they avoid others actively” was recognized. Moreover, they had an impression that families were “indifferent to their children”, or “overly interference”.\nAs a second purpose, examining the difference in impression between period for which it is deemed as hikikomori and sex, the following results were obtained. Regarding hikikomori, men tended to pay attention to visible behavior such as“playing games”and “day and night are reversing”, women pay attention to their cognitive and emotion such as“weak communication”and“anxiety”. In addition, there were a lot of women who had shorter periods for which it is regarded as hikikomori than men. This study shows that women are more likely to pay attention to the mental conditions of hikikomori than men. If people with this condition are seeking interpersonal exchanges, women can be expected as providers of social support.
